Robbing, cunning pastors blasted
Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries  : The man in the line of fire

My comments

Pastor Aloysius Bugingo’s House of Prayer ministries from Bat Valley in Kampala is in the line of fire for exposing the robbery and extortion by Pentecostal pastors in  Uganda. Before forming the  House of Prayer ministries, he was a pastor in Pastor Joseph Serwada’s Victory church, Ndeeba . He once joined pastors Julius Peter Oyet, Godfrey Luwagga, Ambrose Gidudu, Osborn Mayanja, David Mukoko to label Male “an impostor, destroyer, liar and accuser of brethren who speaks without authority”.

Ugandan Prosperity Gospel Kingpins Denounce Pastor Male

Pastor  Bugingo got fed up with Pastor Serwadda’s ecumenism antics that aim at taking Pentecostals to Rome. Pastor Serwada formed an organization called , ‘Born again Faith federation’ and its members have now joined the inter-religious council  which brings together Catholics, muslims, SDA, Anglicans  and Pentecostals.  Can you imagine!!

Pastor Bugingo now uses his SALT FM radio and SALT TV to attack pastors who are robbing people and pastors who now cherish big religious titles and  behave like the catholic bishops. Many thug and ecumenical pastors are very unhappy with him  for exposing them and taking away their flocks. They are now doing every thing possible to bring him down. Pastor Bujingo has done a very commendable job. May be, Pastor Male opened his eyes to the thievery in Uganda’s  Pentecostal movement. It remains to be seen whether his ministry will stand amidst the black mail and malice. Of course his enemies are very well connected to Museveni’s state house. No wonder , the born again executive director for  Kampala city Jennifer Musisi has joined the ones fighting him.

Pastor Bugingo’s weaknesses.

  1. He preaches a soft version of the prosperity Gospel.
  2. He believes in tithing .
  3.  He preaches a lot of dominion theology.

Jennifer Musisi has ordered the eviction of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo’s House of Prayer ministries from Bat Valley in Kampala.

Bugingo has been given 28 days to shift his church from Bat Valley or risk facing forceful eviction. Bugingo and his gang are accused of inconveniencing the neighboring Bat Valley Primary School pupils.
Pastor Bugingo accuses haters of conspiring against him.

According to sources the church goers make the place dirty and kids can’t concentrate on their studies.
However a church insider says -there are ‘jealousy people who are fighting us.’
The jealous people are said include Godfrey Nyakana.

Bugingo, the source adds, has declared a 14 days fasting period as they hope for a miracle

CITY Pastor Aloysius Bugingo has blasted evangelists who have institutionalized the mobile money and envelope culture among flock.

Bugingo the pastor at House of Prayer Ministries International took decried the lack of transparency in most Churches and took a swipe at fellow pastors during the launch of his new radio station Salt FM 107.0 at Nakivubo Stadium.

UPDF Chief Political commissar Col Felix Kulaigye and singer Judith Babirye (R) join in on the prayers.
The launch, which coincided with an independence worship overnight, was witnessed by over 10,000 Christians notable among them, UPDF Chief Political commissar Col Felix Kulaigye and singer Judith Babirye.

“Many believers are stuck in abject poverty because of the actions of extortionist pastors.  How do you empower flock by bragging about your holidays and children studying overseas?  I believe there is a general lack of transparency and accountability in Churches, which needs to be addressed,” the 41 year old told the gathering.

According to Bugingo, it is wrong for pastors and televangelists to deliver sermons and have mobile money numbers scroll on the TV screens.  In the same way, he said the act of sending invitation letters to flock for Christian gatherings had perpetrated habit of extortion.

“These invitation letters are sent with instructions on money to be given and they are brought back sealed. If you tell people to sow in order to prosper, are you a magician to ensure overnight riches?   It is a process… just like Jesus promised to make his disciples Simon Peter and Andrew “fishers of men” in Matthew 4:19, pastors should look to empower their flock to prosperity,” he said.

Bugingo used his time at the pulpit to forgive Godfrey Mutabaazi the Executive Director UCC, who early this year was the subject of fasting and prayer from Bugingo’s flock, who accused him (Mutabaazi) and Jinja East MP, Moses Balyeku for thwarting their efforts to get a radio frequency after asking them for sh600m.

“We are not funded but transparency has seen us achieve this milestone. Not many Ministries can afford to operate radio stations after just three years, we shall use this station for spiritual restoration and giving the right information which will build future generations,” he said.

Col Felix Kulaigye prayed for political stability and asked the management of Salt FM to be at the helm in preaching morals and providing practical solutions to fight poverty.  There were also musical interludes.

The Wakaliga based commercial radio station is the 74th to be licenced by Uganda Communications Commission and has already started airing.

Pastor Bugingo’s daughter elopes with catholic lover

Pastor Bugingo Curses Impregnated Daughter, Catholic Son In-Law

Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, the senior pastor of House of Prayers Ministries International is boiling over with fury after his fond daughter eloped with a man subscribing to the Catholic faith.

Pastor Aloysius Bugingo
Pastor Aloysius Bugingo
“I came to learn of the relationship via love notes Doreen was writting  to that evil man. He would post the lovely notes on her Facebook page and the crook would reply,” Bugingo lamented.

Bugingo gushed out his anger publicly. He was ministering to his flock at Bat Valley when he let off the lid of his child’s romance.

The rants were relayed on his Salt FM Radio. Bugingo said he wanted his first born daughter to be a pacesetter for his siblings.

So infuriated Bugingo became that he even suggested that the  girl can end up dying together with the baby she is carrying.

“What will that man do in case my daughter dies while giving birth? Will he deliver the dead body to me? Wherever you are Doreen, you chose your own fate. Never ever blame anyone in future,” Bugingo cursed.

While exposing the nitty-gritty of his daughter’s romance, the man-of-God identified man who eloped with his daughter as Emma Nkurunzizza.

“That man claims to be a doctor. Yet he is a conman. Can he ever be able to afford giving my daughter what I was giving her?” Bugingo quarreled.

Though Bugingo rants can be excused as coming from a parent eager to protect her child from unpredictable men, it is also true that the pastor has a deep seated hatred for Catholics and their faith.

In his rants, Bugingo is clearly heard expressing his untold uneasiness in regard to Doreen’s choice of a Catholic man to be his lover.

“How can she elope with a man of the catholic faith? It should have been a pauper; I would have excused it. But for a Catholic to elope with my daughter!” Bugingo agonized.

Bugingo started off his rants by narrating the super love he has for his daughter. He told of how he deliberately chose to stay in “Muzigo” in the slums of Bwaise in order to be able to save money for Doreen’s’ ‘wonderful’ primary education.

When Doreen passed PLE with aggregate 5, Bugingo said he made sure that she enrolled at the elite King’s College Buddo.

“She obtained 23 points. I wanted her to study medicine, but her wish was Telecommunications Engineering and I let her be,” Bugingo said.

Since the girl landed free government education, Bugingo revealed that he used the money he would have spent on Doreen’s tuition, to shop a car for her. He said he did this to express the love he has for the girl.

He also agonized about how he used to buy expensive wear for the girl and take to the beach besides such luxury she wanted.

Regardless of the love, Bugingo said, the girl had her heart elsewhere.  She has since eloped with a man who happens not to be his dad’s choice.

“Can you imagine it? That evil girl refused even to work at my media empire. She told me she will find herself a job,” Bugingo lamented. Wait for juicy bits of the candid letter which Doreen wrote to her mum justifying her decision.

I WILL STAND BY MY DAUGHTER, PASTOR BUGINGO

pr.bugingo
Pr.Bugingo has forgiven his daughter Doreen Gift Bugingo and vowed to stand by her paka last. What she did hurt me a lot because she is my first born. I had a son before her and he passed away so all my hopes lay on her. As a parent and human being as well as a Pastor I was disappointed she got pregnant out of wedlock because clearly that’s contradictory to what the bible or gospel I preach states but she is pregnant and I can’t reverse that. She has apologized and the Lord has told me to stick with her and ama do that, Bugingo told this site on phone yesterday.Pr.Bugingo broke the news on Sunday at Batvalley during a church service that his daughter had eloped and had since gotten pregnant. He clearly stated without mincing words that he wasn’t happy and felt betrayed by the daughter.

New Growth Projections Predict the Rise of India, East Africa and Fall of Oil Economies

May 7, 2015

– South Asia and East Africa top the list, while oil-driven economies face the sharpest fall in new growth projections and rankings of productive dynamism for 128 countries, as presented by researchers at the Center for International Development at Harvard University (CID). Using their own measure of economic complexity that captures the productive capabilities embedded in a country’s exports, CID researchers paint a new picture of the economic growth landscape, which foresees growth in emerging markets to continue to outpace developed countries. They also predict important reversals among growth leaders, with India expected to overtake China.

After decades spent trailing the growth of its northern neighbor and economic rival, India now tops the projections of annual growth rates to 2023. This finding adds to the recent debate over India’s own revisions to its 2014 growth statistics, which showed India’s growth edging out China for 2014.

Projections of GDP Growth to 2023 Rankings: Selected Top Countries
Source: The Atlas of Economic Complexity, 2015. Harvard Center for International Development. Note: Rankings out of 128 countries.

“Our Economic Complexity predictions find India’s disputed upper hand in growth will expand into a widening gap in the medium-term, with growth projections to 2023 predicted to be at 7.9 percent annually, well ahead of the 4.6 percent projected for China,” said Ricardo Hausmann, Professor of the Practice of Economic Development at Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), the leading researcher of The Atlas, and the director of CID.

Relative to China’s 9.1 percent annual growth of the past quarter century, this growth projection presents an important slowdown for China, but stands just below the 6 percent growth rate in 2020 predicted by the IMF and China’s leadership.

CID’s projections are also bullish on East Africa. Four East African countries – Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Madagascar – rank in the top ten, with all predicted to grow at least 6 percent annually. The projections also favor Pakistan’s potential, at 5.1 percent predicted growth, presenting a clear picture of South Asia and East Africa’s positive growth outlook. Southeast Asia also includes several high-growth countries, driven by its largest country, Indonesia, which is anticipated to grow at 5.2 percent annually to 2023.

Outlooks for Europe and the U.S. show little optimism. The U.S. growth rate in 2023 is predicted to be 2.4 percent, while major European players range from 2.3 percent in Italy to 3.7 percent in Spain. Among OECD countries, Turkey holds the greatest optimism, at 5.3 percent growth. Overall, the model predicts significant convergence in global incomes, with significant catch-up in parts of Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.

“Countries accumulate productive knowledge by developing their respective capacity to make both more products, and products of increasing complexity—this underpins economic growth,” said Hausmann. “Countries like India, Kenya, and the Philippines have made important recent gains in diversifying their exports into more complex products. Historically, these gains in economic complexity have translated into higher incomes, which position them as the frontrunners globally for their growth prospects.”

CID’s projections are based on newly released 2013 global trade data and The Atlas of Economic Complexity, an online tool which measures a country’s productive knowledge and predicts its rate of growth. Productive knowledge – the knowledge that goes into making products – captures more relevant information as to the drivers of economic growth, to provide a more accurate explanation for why countries are rich or poor. The Atlas shows remarkable accuracy in predicting future economic growth. Relative to the leading measures of governance, competitiveness, and education, The Atlas’ Economic Complexity measures are found to best forecast growth rates—with 10 times greater accuracy than the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index.

New Country Rankings in Economic Complexity

Along with the growth projections, CID released the new 2013 Economic Complexity Index (ECI). The ECI ranks countries based on the average complexity of their export basket, using the same indicator that generated the growth projections. Of the countries that made the greatest improvements in ECI from 2003-2013, four of the top five are in Sub-Saharan Africa: Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi. The region is not uniformly improving, however, as Mauritania, Namibia, and Zimbabwe are among the group with the worst declines in ECI. Policy approaches toward diversification and the management of commodities, like oil, increasingly diverge within regions and underpin differing economic outcomes.

Biggest Winners and Losers in Economic Complexity: 2003-2013
Source: The Atlas of Economic Complexity, 2015. Harvard Center for International Development. Note: Rankings out of 128 countries.

The Economic Complexity growth projections underscore that not all exports are created equal. Rather, moving into greater productive diversity and more complex exports may hold the secret to countries’ growth prospects.

The countries that slipped the most in the complexity rankings are all commodity-driven economies, including Libya, Venezuela, Namibia, Georgia and Qatar. After a decade that saw oil prices triple to $98 at the end of 2013, oil-based economies translated higher prices into larger export value, becoming some of the fastest growing countries over the 2003-2013 period. This growth is not expected to be sustained; however, as CID’s growth projections show the concentration of exports in oil has come at the expense of greater diversification into other industries not as sensitive to price fluctuations. The dramatic decline in oil prices in mid-2014 bear out these risks: these oil-driven economies have witnessed downward revisions to their official growth projections, with a correction more closely aligned to the CID projections.

“Resource wealth appears to be rife with pitfalls that inhibit the diversification of productive knowledge into more complex areas, as seen from Libya to Venezuela to Qatar,” said Sebastian Bustos, a lead CID researcher on the project. “But this is not destiny, as Oman and the United Arab Emirates show the scope of what is achievable by focusing on productive capabilities and strategically increasing the complexity of one’s exports, starting from nearby products that rely on similar capabilities to those currently present in the country.”

The top of the rankings remain largely unchanged, with Japan, Switzerland, and Germany maintaining the greatest diversity in productive knowledge. The United States ranks 12th in the 2013 rankings, slipping four places over the prior decade. South Korea, by contrast, has shown the greatest rise among the leaders, up 13 spots to fourth. Other top risers are China (up 14 spots to 23rd), and Thailand (up 12 spots to 25th). When comparing a country’s ECI rankings to its income per capita over time, the growth projections look favorably on those countries, like Vietnam, that show the capabilities to produce more complex products than expected by its current income level. At 66th globally, Vietnam now outranks countries with significantly higher income per capita, like Chile (67th) and Australia (76th), as predictive of higher income growth in Vietnam. This pattern holds at the other extreme, too, where previous iterations of the rankings showed Greece as an outlier for having a higher income level than expected for its level of complexity, predicting a dip in growth.

Harvard experts predict Uganda economic growth
Harvard experts predict Uganda economic growth
According to the Havard report, Uganda’s economy is expected to grow at an impressive a rate of 6% annually.
newvision
By Moses Walubiri

INDIA and Uganda are poised to lead global growth in the next decade as new economic projections indicate the ascendency of countries on the Indian Ocean rim and East Africa.

With average annual growth projections of 7.9% and 7.0% for India and Uganda, respectively, the latest report by the Centre for International Development (CID) at Harvard University indicates relative stagnation for Europe and the US, while China’s growth will start to peter out.

CID’s projections are based on the newly released 2015 global trade data and The Atlas of Economic Complexity, an online tool which measures a country’s productive knowledge and predicts its rate of growth.

According to the Financial Times’ John Authers, a senior columnist, “CID has a successful record of identifying which countries are positioned to grow. Based on the latest global trade data for 2015, they aim to identify the drivers of why some countries grow, while others do not.”

Authers published an article about the predictions in the Financial Times.

With the exception of India and Philippines, all the countries in the top 10 are in Africa — Kenya (6.7%), Malawi (6.5%), Tanzania (6.5%), Egypt (6.0%), Madagascar (5.9%), Zambia (5.8%), Senegal (5.5%) and Philippines (5.5%).

“Our economic complexity predictions find India’s disputed upper hand in growth will expand into a widening gap in the medium-term, with growth projections to 2023 predicted to be at 7.9% annually, ahead of the 4.6% for China,” said

Ricardo Hausmann, Professor of the Practice of Economic Development at Harvard Kennedy School), the leading researcher of The Atlas and the director of CID.

The projections also favour Pakistan’s potential, at 5.1% predicted growth, presenting a clear picture of South Asia and East Africa’s positive growth outlook.

The report notes that countries like India, Kenya and the Philippines have made quantum leaps in diversifying their exports “into more complex products”.

Citing the example of Libya, Venezuela, Namibia, Georgia and Qatar — all oil-based economies — the report warns of the dangers of failure to economically diversify as vindicated by the plummeting oil prices.

“For Uganda’s case, the economic projections are feasible. Government’s current investment in infrastructure will spur agriculture and create jobs,” Dr. Tom Mwebaze, Makerere University’s head of the department of policy and development economics, told New Vision on Sunday when asked about the projections.

Citing the example of China, Mwebaze downplayed concerns about Uganda’s fast-growing population turning out to be an impediment.

“As long as the population is productive, there is no problem,” he said.

Commenting about the predictions, finance minister Matia Kasaija said: “This growth rate is feasible and in line with our projection. This will be possible if we continue investing in infrastructure, woo investors, avoid sinking resources into consumptive expenditure and encouraging more Ugandans to enter the money economy".

As to whether this will help scale down poverty levels is another matter. It is possible to increase wealth creation without reducing poverty” he added.

SC raised Confederate flag in 1961 to insult nine black protesters — and took it down to honor nine slain

SC raised Confederate flag in 1961 to insult nine black protesters — and took it down to honor nine slain

09 Jul 2015 at 11:14 ET
Members of the Friendship Nine (CBS News) A peculiar historical symmetry exists between South Carolina’s decision to raise the Confederate flag in 1961 and the state’s overnight vote Thursday to bring it down.
The flag was first hoisted over the Statehouse on April 11, 1961, as part of the centennial celebration of the firing on Fort Sumter, which opened the Civil War.

The flag was flown at the request of Aiken Rep. John A. May, who introduced a resolution during the next legislative session to display the flag over the Statehouse, and lawmakers approved his measure March 16, 1962 – after the flag had remained flying for nearly a year.

Just weeks before the Confederate battle flag was first hoisted, 10 black students from Friendship Junior College were arrested on Jan. 31, 1961, and convicted the following day after they refused to leave an all-white lunch counter in Rock Hill.
Nine of those students, who became known as the Friendship Nine, revolutionized the civil rights movement by refusing bail.

“The obvious advantage of ‘jail, no bail’ was that it reversed the financial burden of protest, costing the demonstrators no cash while obligating the white authorities to pay for jail space and food,” wrote Taylor Branch in the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Parting the Waters.” “The obvious disadvantage was that staying in jail represented a quantum leap in commitment above the old barrier of arrest, lock-up and bail-out.”
The students spent 30 days doing hard labor at the York County Prison Farm, and other demonstrators followed their example at white-only businesses throughout the south.

A York County judge tossed out the trespassing convictions against the former students – eight of whom are still living – on Jan. 28, 2015, saying the men, now in their 70s, should never have been charged in the first place.

“We cannot rewrite history, but we can right history,” said Judge John C. Hayes III. “Now, as to the Friendship Nine, is the time and opportunity to do so. Now is the time to recognize that justice is not temporal, but is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.”

Nearly five months later, on June 17, a white supremacist murdered nine black worshipers after a Bible study at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston.
The admitted gunman, 21-year-old Dylann Roof, displayed a Confederate flag license plate on his getaway car and posed for numerous photos holding the same battle flag that flew above the Statehouse grounds as his victims’ funeral processions passed.

Gov. Nikki Haley ordered the state and U.S. flags lowered to half-mast to honor the victims, but only the General Assembly has the authority to alter the Confederate flag as part of a 2000 agreement to move it to a war memorial on the Statehouse grounds.

Public sentiment quickly turned against the Confederate flag, which was removed from states across the South and by retailers such as Walmart and Amazon.
The South Carolina House voted 94-20 about 1 a.m. Thursday, after nearly 13 hours of debate, after the governor called a special session and asked for the flag’s removal.

The approved bill called for the flag to be taken down 54 years after it was raised during the civil rights movement and moved to a relic room at a military museum in the state capital.

Former Hillsong Worship ‘Pastor’ Darlene Zschech Now Leading Followers To Rome

Former Hillsong Worship ‘Pastor’ Darlene Zschech Now Leading Followers To Rome

| July 6, 2015 | 164 Comments

Darlene Zschech is a prominent voice in the contemporary praise movement

“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,” 2 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV)

Darlene Zschech started out as a  “worship pastor” at Hills Christian Life Centre, Sydney, Australia, and has published many popular worship albums under the Hillsong Music label. She is also associated with Integrity Music and the Hosanna label. She and her husband, Mark, are now senior “pastors” of Hope Unlimited Church in New South Wales.

former-hillsong-ccm-singer-worship-pastor-darlene-zchech-sings-for-pope-francis-vatican-rome-renewal-holy-spirit
About meeting the Pope, Zschech said “What a day. All honour and praise to our Father in Heaven. Thank You, Thank You, Jesus.”

Last week, she performed on stage as a headliner at the Vatican’s Renewal of the Holy Spirit rally. On her Facebook page, Zschech breathlessly gushed The prep has begun in Rome. I can feel the prayers. Honoured to be singing this week, with Andrea BocelliDon Moen (Praise & Worship Leader), Noa (Achinoam Nini) with Pope Francis and thousands of worshippers gathering in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. This is a celebration of unity and peace in the Renewal of the Holy Spirit. Amazing days for the Body of Christ.”

As a former Catholic for 28 years, I can assure you that the Catholic Church is not part of the Body of Christ. When I went through 12 years of private Catholic school indoctrination, we never called ourselves “Christians”, we always referred to ourselves as Catholics. Now obviously I believe that Catholics can be saved, but I do not think it is possible for that to happen within the Catholic system. Bible doctrine and Catholic doctrine are indeed at odds with each other, I never met a priest or a nun who could tell me for sure that they were going to Heaven when they died. Because unlike the Bible, Catholic doctrine teaches that you cannot know for sure. That’s why they teach the false doctrines of Sacraments, Purgatory, Saint Worship, and pray to Mary, because they are trying to build up as many “good works” as they can to outweigh their bad on Judgment Day. And that is why the vast majority of Catholics will wind up in Hell because they were never saved in the first place.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9 (KJV)

In all the endless hours of sermonizing and talking put in by Pope Francis, can you show me a 5 minute presentation of Gospel on how to be saved? No, you can’t because he doesn’t talk about those things. So what, I wonder, did Darlene Zschech and the other Laodicean “evangelicals” have to discuss with the Catholics when they arrived starry-eyed in the City of Babylon to pay homage to the Pope? I think that’s a pretty good question. From the looks of things, they just performed Christian rock music, got everyone all hyped up on emotion, and had you fall down and pray to their “generic Jesus” who judges nothing, loves all, and supports same-sex marriage.

Darlene Zschech has a lot in common with another famous Laodicean imposter:

Christian, in these last days as we watch denomination after denomination falling under the spell of Mother Rome, you would do well to guard your walk with the Lord and have nothing to do with these Laodicean, prosperity preaching imposters. If you ever get the chance to have an audience with Pope Francis, why don’t you tell him how to get saved? Because Darlene Zschech certainly didn’t tell him that when she had her chance.

Megachurch Pastor Signals Shift in Tone on Gay Marriage

The pastor of one of the more influential global megachurches has declared that his church is in “an ongoing conversation” about same-sex marriage — saying that it is appropriate to consider the words of the Bible alongside the changing culture and the experience of people in the pews.
The comments by Brian Houston, the senior pastor of Hillsong, immediately attracted concern from the right and applause from the left, coming as many Christian denominations and congregations are struggling with how to respond to rapid expansion of gay rights and legalization of same-sex marriage.
Mr. Houston’s church, which is based in Australia, is known largely as a musical powerhouse because of the popularity of its recordings of contemporary Christian worship music, but its youthful congregation is vast — about 100,000 weekly worshipers at campuses in a dozen major cities, including New York and Los Angeles — and its cultural reach broad.

Leaders of Hillsong have been avoiding condemnation of homosexuality for some time, and the pastor of Hillsong’s New York City campus, Carl Lentz, has declined to take a public position on same-sex marriage. But Mr. Houston’s comments, made at a news conference Thursday in New York, were striking for their assertion that Christian churches have caused pain for some gay Christians, and for their suggestion that the issue of same-sex marriage is not settled.

“The world we live in, whether we like it or not, is changing around and about us,” he said. “The world’s changing, and we want to stay relevant as a church, so that’s a vexing thing.”
Mr. Houston, as he has done in sermons, ruefully noted the experience of gay children growing up in Christian churches, saying that some feel rejected by their youth pastors or even their parents, and that as a result, some young people “literally are depressed, maybe even suicidal, and, sadly, oftentimes grow up to hate the church because they feel that the church rejected them.”

He said he lived by “what the Bible says,” and his spokesman said on Friday that the pastor personally agreed with traditional Christian teaching on sexuality. But Mr. Houston said he did not think it would be constructive to delineate a public position on same-sex marriage.

“It’s very easy to reduce what you think about homosexuality to just a public statement, and that would keep a lot of people happy,” he said, “but we feel at this point, that it is an ongoing conversation, that the real issues in people’s lives are too important for us just to reduce it down to a yes or no answer in a media outlet. So we’re on the journey with it.”

Some of Hillsong’s churches appear to be open to gays and lesbians. Josh Canfield and Reed Kelly, a gay couple featured on the current season of “Survivor;” worship and sing in the choir at Hillsong New York; Mr. Canfield is a volunteer choir director at the church.
Mr. Houston’s comments were welcomed by Matthew Vines, a young gay evangelical who is trying to persuade the evangelical world that faith in the Bible is not at odds with openness to gays and lesbians.
“Is Hillsong influential primarily for doctrine and theology? No, it’s not, but its music is as evangelical as you’re going to get, in terms of reach and impact, and that’s very significant,” Mr. Vines said.
But Andrew Walker, the director of policy studies for the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, expressed concern about Mr. Houston’s remarks, blogging for the journal “First Things,” “let’s be clear that this is not the route of faithfulness,” and calling Hillsong “a church exchanging compassion for cowardliness before culture’s consistory.”

Mr. Houston’s remarks on same-sex marriage were one of several instances this week in which he and his church differentiated themselves from some other segments of the evangelical world.
His wife, Bobbie Houston, who is also a senior pastor of Hillsong, responded to a question about women’s roles in evangelical churches by saying, “Really, the church needs to come of age sometimes, and just grow up.” Hillsong allows women to preach and teach; many evangelical churches do not.

And in an era when many religious leaders are defensive about the issue of clergy sexual abuse, Mr. Houston offered several searing, and at times self-critical, descriptions of how he handled the realization 15 years ago that his own father, also a Pentecostal pastor, was a pedophile. The episode has returned to the public eye because last week Mr. Houston testified about it before a royal commission investigating institutional response to child sexual abuse in Australia; in New York he talked with the press about the subject on Thursday and then with 5,500 people attending a Hillsong conference on Friday at Madison Square Garden.
He said he believed he did the right thing by removing his father from ministry as soon as he became aware of an abuse allegation. However, he said, in hindsight he should have informed the police at the time, even though the victim had asked him not to.

“There’s a difference between being pitiful and being transparent,” he said Friday, explaining why he chose to speak about the issue. “Authenticity always works, in every situation.”

Liberia Confirms 2 New Ebola Cases

Two new cases of Ebola have emerged from the same Liberian community where the virus resurged the other week, the acting head of the country's Ebola Case Management Team said Thursday.

Dr. Francis Kateh said the number of confirmed Ebola cases has risen to five, including the 17-year-old teen who died of the disease on June 28. The latest patients, a boy and a girl, were brought to a treatment center Wednesday from the same Nedowein community where the teen died.

All four confirmed patients are at a treatment center near Monrovia, Dr. Kateh said.
He said 120 people have been quarantined, and that 14 who are considered active "high risk" contacts are being monitored.

The last recorded case in Liberia before this latest emergence was March 20, according to the World Health Organization, which had declared the country free from transmission on May 9.
Tests are being done to help determine the mode of transmission to the teenager. He first became ill June 21 and went to a local health facility where he was treated for malaria and discharged, WHO has said.
Experts had warned that Ebola remained a threat to West Africa until it is eradicated from Guinea and Sierra Leone where it stubbornly hangs on.

In Sierra Leone, the government said Wednesday a curfew would extend in Ebola-affected areas. Sierra Leone recently recorded 10 new confirmed Ebola cases, focused in the east of Freetown.
"Sierra Leone continues to try and eradicate Ebola from its last remaining districts and has implemented two deliberate operations in which to achieve this," the CEO of the National Ebola Response Center, Maj. Alfred Palo Conteh, said earlier this week.

The Ebola outbreak has killed more than 11,200 people, mostly in West Africa.

Cursed is he who trusts in Man: Ebola Vaccine Trials Not Harmful – Experts: Oh! really : If the so called experts are not honest about the origin of Ebola , how can you trust them on Ebola trials ???

Ebola Vaccine Trials Not Harmful – Experts

Ebola Vaccine
Professor Fred Binka
A team of experts from various health institutions in the country have assured Ghanaians of the safety of the Ebola vaccine trials.

According to the experts from the Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical Research, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ghana Standards Authority (GDA) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the vaccine has satisfied both local and international requirements and would not have adverse effect on the health and lives of people who are exposed to it.

This assurance was given when the experts took turns to engage the public in a forum recently held in Ho, the Volta regional capital.

The forum was to explain the nature and processes of the proposed clinical trials of the Ebola vaccine to allay the fears and misconceptions of the public that the exercise could lead to the spread of the disease in Ghana.

Professor Fred Binka, Vice Chancellor of UHAS and the lead investigator on the project in Hohoe, said, “Everyone’s safety is the research team’s priority, hence there should be no cause for alarm.”
He explained that before such trials are done on humans, the vaccines are tested in laboratories, then animals; thus from rodents through to primates to ensure safety and efficacy of the vaccine.
Ghana is planning to do a Phase I trial of Johnson and Johnsons and Phase II of GSK in Hohoe in the Volta Region while Kintampo in Brong-Ahafo is doing just the Phase II of GSK trial.
According to him, the two places were chosen because they both have well-equipped clinical trial facilities of international standard and international known for clinical researches.

Response to GAAS
Prof Kwadwo Koram, Director of Noguchi Memorial Institute and a member of the team, pointed out that the objective of the proposed clinical trials in Ghana is to contribute towards the development of an effective vaccine to protect populations in future outbreaks of the disease in the West African sub-region.
Prof Koram said every little detail and safety measures have been employed according to the International Committee on Harmonisation (ICH) Protocol Guidelines right from scientific and ethical review, assessment of the trial facilities, assessment of human capacity, constant monitoring of the process, among others.

FDA approval and Compensation
Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in-charge of Safety Monitory and Clinical Trial at the FDA, Mrs Delese Mimi Darko, assured Ghanaians that the vaccine had also undergone review in accordance with manufacturing practices before being approved by the ethics committee.
She said that the FDA which is recognised as a regulatory centre of excellence in Africa in the area of clinical trials would monitor the entire process.

Dr Ama Edwin of GHS Ethics Review Committee also mentioned that the trial is strictly voluntary and volunteers who begin the trial and decide not to partake will not be prevented.
More so, the volunteers will be taken through an entire process of education before being enrolled. They will also be given an approved compensation of only GH¢200 on every visit.
