Roman Catholics and the Spirit of Fornication : Uganda's Catholic Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga thanks Ancestral devils for helping her Win the position of speaker of Parliament

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga Kisses Pope Benedict XVI's ring

  Comment

You can not be roman catholic and escape the spirit of fornication. What Hon. Kadaga did is exactly what a number of  popes have been doing. What she did is exactly what a number of catholics  in Uganda do i.e being staunch Catholics while remaining committed to ancestral worship.

State Minister for Regional Cooperation, Asuman Kiyingi, has blasted Speaker Rebecca Kadaga for visiting a shrine in Busoga where she prayed and celebrated with gods this past weekend.
In a viral video, Kadaga defended her trip to the caves of her ancestors, saying, “Doesn’t everyone have roots?”
Kiyingi, a renowned critic of the Speaker, said he was “still in shock and deeply saddened over what I saw in that video.”
The Minister said whereas it is every citizen’s constitutional right to worship in whatever manner they so wish, “leaders are role models who should be very careful in what they choose to preach or practice.”
Scenes of Kadaga climbing hills and kneeling before caves to worship spirits have divided public opinion.

Some observers claim Kadaga is right to hold celebrations with her ‘ancestors.’ Others argued that being seen paying tribute to gods is satanic.
Power of the ‘unseen’
But Kadaga argued that her ancestors helped her emerge victorious in the race for Speaker.
MP Jacob Oulanya stepped down for Kadaga following President Museveni’s intervention, allowing her retain the seat unchallenged.
“My Christian friends may liberally view this matter and let it pass without comment. But as a Muslim I must say this is shirk which in spiritual terminology tantamount to treason,” charged Kiyingi.
“It is therefore a very serious matter. A person who dies in a state of shirk will not be forgiven by God (4:49),” he added.
Kiyingi urged Kadaga to repent for the sin
He said leaders who swear by the Holy Bible must not fall short of living up to the country’s motto ‘For God and my Country’ in execution of their duties.
“I therefore pray that those depicted in this video that has now gone viral, engaging in spirit/devil worship contrary to scripture, find the humility to repent and seek God’s forgiveness to uphold our national motto “For God and my Country’”.

Speaker Kadaga under attack over devil worshipping

    By Watchdog reporter

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga found time off her busy schedule to return to her ancestral home to pay homage to her ancestors.
In a video that went viral over the weekend, Speaker Kadaga is seen kneeling before rocks, and is quoted saying she was thanking her ancestral spirits for blessing her political path that she managed to defeat her political rivals.

But she's under scathing attack for devil worshipping.
Sam Lyomoki (workers) wrote to Kadaga calling upon her to repent.
Asuman Kiyingi, another politician from Musoga said what Kadaga did was profanity.

Pastor Kayanja's prayer for Museveni, comparisons with King David & the meaning of 30 years

http://watchdog.co.ug/detail.php?id=2227

By Watchdog reporter

This was the prayer by Pastor Robert Kayanja at Kololo independence grounds swearing in ceremony of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni . He emphasized the significance of the number 30, and compared Museveni to King David.

"As we still continue in prayer, I want us to start by clapping our hands because this is not just swearing in as normal as an inauguration. This is very significant to the developing Africa, I want us to clap our hands first of all to God for the victory he has brought to Uganda and Africa at large.

Your Excellency this swearing in and inauguration is different from any other because of the following, number one: the NRM government has been in power for 30 years and its like when king David took over the territory of Israel the people that were disputed because of what was going on he was 30 years. Even our Lord Jesus Christ when he was anointed to save humanity, he was 30 years.  There is a fresh anointing Mr. President and Mama (First Lady-Janet Museveni) that is coming upon this country. There is a fresh anointing not the anointing just to do stuff but things are gonna speed up, like the servant of Abrahim, Eliza he asked God to give him good speed. I prophecy, I speak success in Uganda in every area of our life there will be good success, Mr President thank you for being a God Lover and for God’s People and you love Uganda. You have defended Africa and also United Uganda, but these five years of your life and your leadership in this country are going to be super years of success God is gonna bless our gardens, God is gonna bring life there will be no pestilence in this land there will be unity in this nation. Everything you do will go as God has planned it to be. Because God will do that as it’s done in heaven let it be done in Uganda, go ahead Mr. President, unite East Africa, go ahead, let Uganda rise out of this, for God has chosen you Mr President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to take the shame off African people we’ve been under for years.

The time has come for Uganda to arise, every Ugandan will be successful. By the end of these 5years will not be only changing our brothers and sisters but we will be a wonder in the land and around the world in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen"

Kayanja Mobilises 100,000 Youth for Museveni Mentoring

  • Dec 18,2014
Pastor Robert Kayanja, the leader of Miracle Centre Cathedral in Rubaga, Kampala, has revealed that plans are underway to host over 100,000 youths for a conference which will be addressed by President Museveni.
Kayanja made the remarks on Wednesday during a function at his church where Museveni met the youth of Project 86.
The project unites the youth from all parts of Uganda born from the year 1986, when Museveni seized power, onwards.
The meeting was on the sidelines of the ceremony of flagging off food aid to South Sudan.
Kayanja requested the President to “address and mentor them.”
The man of God further condemned “people who allege that the NRM Government had done nothing for the people of Uganda,” quoting impressive statistics on infrastructural development, mass education and improved economy.
The leader of Project 86 Mr. Cannery Mugume, revealed that Project 86 was not only about President Museveni but about the youth. He said that the youth group has attracted members from all parts of Uganda.
Several youths gave testimony of their achievement through the employment of the skills gained. They saluted the President for the UPE programme which they reported has been a big success.

Human Resource
On his part, President Museveni said the National Resistance Movement (NRM) introduced mass education in order to ensure a big impact on human resource development.
“The NRM Government introduced mass education in order to serve all wananchi. The current challenge is to ensure that there is quality among the masses,” he said. He reiterated that the availability of a trained mass would go a long way towards the development of the country.
He cited India as one of the countries that used a similar approach towards addressing the human resource issue.
President Museveni said that the Government has registered success in three sectors within the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme, namely reading, writing and numeracy.
He revealed that the NRM Government has set the targets of promoting skills, professionalization and intellectualization.
He said that the Government would continue with its goal of building classrooms, laboratories and libraries as part of the measures towards enhancing the needs of wananchi.
The President was happy that the student enrolment today at university level was 140,000 as compared to 5,000 in 1986.
Mr. Museveni expressed his pleasure over the students’ formation of a group that can talk about themselves and their wellbeing. He informed the youths that when NRM took power in 1986, there was a big challenge to the formal economy which had collapsed.
He attributed the collapse to mismanagement and revealed that the first casualty was tax collection. He noted that the shortcoming culminated in a shortage of funds to build roads, schools and other infrastructure. He said that in 1986 the tax collected was only Shs 5 billion. He elaborated that the factories then had closed and people had no employment.
President Museveni told the youths that the NRM’s first task was to re formalize the economy to ensure that all imported goods that entered the country through the borders were well documented.
He revealed that the Government created factories and attracted companies to invest in services such as hotels and several others adding that in 1996 some factories went into operation and the Government managed to increase its revenue collections. He revealed this progress led to the Government being able to fund defense and launch the UPE programme.
He strongly criticized characters in the mass media industry that have been spreading lies about the Government’s achievements. He assured them that NRM would address the situation by countering their lies that are being peddled.
President Museveni informed the youth that he has been trying to establish factories in the country but some people have been obstructing the realization of those assets. He said that this was a danger for Africa.
He urged the youth to defend the establishment and sustenance of factories adding that the developed world in Europe and America is based on factories when Africa is based on manual labour. He said that the current trend of manual labour does not score good results saying that factories were the future of the world.
ICT
He reminded the youths that there were five employment sectors that should be utilized to promote themselves namely commercial agriculture, factories, services, ICT and the Public Service. President Museveni called on the youth to sensitize the people and ensure that they engage in commercial agriculture. He called on all the people living in rural areas to practice commercial farming as anti-dote against household poverty.
He called on the youth and other Ugandans at large to strive to add value to the agricultural products. He gave the example of cotton which has been fetching only US$1 per kilogram produced.
He, however, noted that with the launching of the textile factory at Bugolobi in Kampala, the finished product would fetch up to US$15 per kilogram of cotton which product was hitherto being donated to the external processors.
He reiterated that the processing of our agro-products would boost the national economy through the creation of more employment.
President Museveni pledged a donation of a bus and video cameras to facilitate the youth of Project 86 in their endeavours to generate income.

Pastor Male Lashes Out At Pastor Kayanja Over Besigye Death Prophesy

http://news.ugo.co.ug/pastor-male-lashes-out-at-pastor-kayanja-over-besigye-death-prophesy/

Pastor Moses Solomon Male of the Arising for Christ Ministry has labeled his Lubaga Miracle Center peer, Pastor Robert Kayanja a false prophet.

To arrive at the unflattering tug, Pastor Male revisited the year 2006 prophesy by Pastor Kayanja forecasting the death of one of the then presidential candidates.

Male asserts that since none of the presidential candidates died which Kayanja said would happen, qualifies the Lubaga Miracle Center pastor to be a false prophet.
“He took the gamble to please president Museveni in order to get favors from the Head of State. He knew Dr Besigye was sickly. He then made the false prophesy in the hope that he (Besigye) would not survive the grueling campaigns,” Male pointed out.

Terming Besigye to be a man of nine lives since he has lived to  witness more presidential elections and actually take part in them, Male advised Museveni to learn from Kayanja’s false prophet and then be wary of Born again pastors who pretend to perform miracles for him.

“They (pastors) are blackmailers. Those people are extortionists. They offer prayers for money. They pray for the president to win elections knowing he loves it and would give them money,’ Pastor Male said in his “Life Journey’s program aired on Ssuubi FM.

Pastor Kayanja clarifies prophecy on polls

By Vision Reporter, 8th January , 2006

Pastor Robert Kayanja of Rubaga Miracle Centre has been criticised over his prophesy that Uganda would have five presidential candidates, one would die and another quit the race.

Due to the uproar and consternation that has arisen as a result of the prophecy God gave through me, I have seen it fit to write to you to clarify a few issues that have either been disregarded or overlooked most especially by the press. I hope this will help to clear the air and put the record straight. The Bible says, "The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law" (Deuteronomy 29:29). "Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me (Ezekiel 3:17;18-19). I will begin with the prophecy itself. It came in two phases; the first phase came on Friday December 31, 2004 and the next on Wednesday, January 19, 2005. I saw the year 2006. And there were five persons standing for the presidency, 'one of them would quit the race, and one would die.Whoever would win the elections would win by 61.8%.' The recent reports in the media give the impression that this prophecy was given as recently as December 31, 2005. That was just a reiteration of what God had spoken a year ago. But because of the current volatile political situation, many people are understandably bound to brand it a 'political prophecy'. Sections of the media have accused me of being an agent of one of the presidential candidates who knows what is being planned behind the scenes, and that I am being used to use God as a cover-up for any impending danger that may befall any of the presidential candidates. I would like to point out a few facts that most people have overlooked, either through misinformation, ignorance of the facts or political bias. lPresident Museveni: By the time the prophecy was given December 31, 2004 and January 19, 2005, none of the five presidential candidates had been nominated to represent their parties in the elections. Even the cartoon in New Vision March 30, 2005 did not depict any of the present presidential candidates. The Kisanja Bill was not passed until August 18, 2005. The president only signed it into effect on September 26, 2005.
·  Dr. Besigye was still in exile in South Africa. According to the report in New Vision of October 24, 2005, FDC met in Krugersdorp in South Africa and advised Besigye to return to register as a voter before the deadline of October 28, 2005. He returned to Uganda on October 26, 2005. He was elected FDC's presidential candidate on October 29, 2005. l
·  Mrs. Miria Obote was not in the picture as a presidential candidate until after the demise of her husband on October 10, 2005. She was voted UPC president on November 28, 2005. l Ssebaana Kizito: Dr. Paul Semogerere was still President General of DP. Many were in contention for the post. Ssebaana was nominated presidential candidate on November 27, 2005. l
·  Dr. Abed Bwanika was known on the political scene only after nomination. Previously he was known only in the born-again circles where he is a pastor of one of the churches. With the above facts in mind, it is absurd that anyone would imagine that this prophecy is politically motivated as many have suggested. Probably, the reason there is such uproar is because of the prevailing political situation that is full of suspicion, accusations and counter accusations. However, the prophecy was given when it was unknown who would stand as a presidential candidate today. There are other important facts to consider about the prophecy: The prophecy did not give the names of the candidates that would stand for president. That was not revealed. It merely stated that they would be five. It is worth noting that over 100 people picked up nomination forms. When the nominations were over, six candidates had been nominated: President Museveni for NRM, Dr. Besigye for FDC, Ssebaana for DP, Miria Obote for UPC and Dr. Bwanika as an independent. On December 28, 2005, Sebaggala stepped down for Ssebaana, leaving only five candidates just as God had said. From the above points, it is quite obvious that only God could have been so accurate as to know what was going to happen in the nation, and to tell His people in advance in order to prepare them a year ago. My fellow Ugandans, after the events that happened on Besigye's arrest on December 14, 2005, I called upon our church to fast and pray for Uganda, sensing we were heading in a tumultuous direction. When the presidential nominations revealed we had 18 aspirants, I thought we had averted the prophecy and then the wake up call came. Based on the fact that what God showed us on December 31, 2004 is happening before our very eyes, with five candidates now standing, having heard from God before and having seen Him confirm His Word in places like Panama, Kenya, USA, S. Korea and Nigeria, it would be grossly irresponsible on my part not to remind the people of what God said a year ago. God knows the detail, we only prophesy in part (1 Corinthians, 13:9). I am sorry I could not be silent just to be olwatta omwami nalumanya (I knew what would kill the gentleman before hand). About Death, let me share with you a personal story. One of my twin daughters was diagnosed with a deadly cancerous brain tumor. After the doctor informed us that she had only three months to live, we were devastated. We presented the matter to God and we did not vent our frustration on the doctors. We employed every mechanism available to avert the prediction, but the doctor who informed us of this was neither a fortune-teller nor a prophet of doom. He only revealed what we could not see and we humbly used that to save our daughter's life. I know the meaning of the word death and I would not use it lightly on anybody. I know what it means to the rest of the family. It would be wrong, having come this close to the fulfillment of this prophecy as we know, to only tell the good and easy part and leave out the hard ones in an attempt not to offend the people. If every person would pray for their candidate's protection. We would have covered security for each candidate. Our transition into the multiparty system has not started well. We are in collision with the prophecy, considering all that has transpired so far. God is serious about matters concerning this country. Instead of criticising the messenger and branding him a prophet of doom, we should pray that any evil that would have befallen this country be averted by the mercy of God. Some prophecies can be averted through prayer. For example, when the prophet Isaiah told King Hezekiah, "Thus saith the Lord, set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live' (Isaiah, 38:1), Hezekiah turned to the wall and cried to God, and God changed the prophecy (Isaiah, 38:4-5). When the prophet Jonah told the city of Nineveh that God was going to overthrow it (Jonah, 3:4), the inhabitants averted that prophecy through repentance, prayer and fasting in sackcloth and ashes (Jonah 3:5-10). "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles, 7:14). "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance" (Psalm 33:12). The prophetic ministry is one of the most misunderstood, even in the Church of Jesus Christ, and yet it is part of the five ministry offices called the five-fold ministry gifts that Jesus gave to men in Ephesians 4:11-16, to help strengthen and mature His body. According to 1Corinthians 14:3, prophecy is given to men to edification, exhortation, and comfort. However, the prophetic office also warns of impending danger (Ezekiel, 3:17-19). All peace loving Ugandans should pray for God's mercy on our country that evil shall not prevail, but righteousness, and that we shall never go back to where we came from. Since November 14 till the end of February 2006, our church is in fasting and praying for the nation. Please join us. I encourage our presidential candidates to realise that they not only need the people's votes, but also God to back them up, for no authority exists without God's permission, and the existing authorities have been put there by God (Romans 13:1). I claim not to be a prophet nor a special person but just a servant of God. May God bless us all. For God and my country

A Dive from the Fire to the boiling pot: Father Musaala criticizes and quits catholic church, joins Evangelical Orthodox church

Father Musaala criticizes and quits catholic church, joins Evangelical Orthodox church

http://capitalradio.co.ug/4754-2/

April 27, 2016
By Fr. Anthony Musaala
NO LONGER AT EASE
In my three years of virtual forced exile from Roman Catholicism, I have found myself deeply drawn to the sacred symbolism of the Orthodox Divine Liturgy and to the more contemplative, less rationalistic theology of the historic Eastern churches.

Paradoxically I am nonetheless also still very charismatic and evangelistically oriented, which is why I was also very excited to discover the wonderfully and curiously named Evangelical Orthodox Church, about one year ago.

This small forty-year old church which is an off shoot of both the Evangelical and Orthodox combines Orthodox theology and worship with an evangelical and charismatic outlook. How quaint.

Also this little church has very warmly welcomed me as a true seeker who may also later have something to offer from my Catholic charismatic background ; whereas ironically my own dear Roman church for reasons it knows best, persists in shutting me out. How odd.

Anyway the Evangelical Orthodox Church or EOC, in abbreviation is truly ‘catholic’ in the best sense of the word, having the fullness of the ancient faith and lacking nothing in their traditions or doctrines which was there from the beginning, while carefully reading the scriptures and proclaiming the Risen Lord to elicit conversion.

As a result of this happy discovery, I’m afraid that Roman Catholicism, which I have so deeply loved and grown up with , sits less and less well with my soul.

Not only am I unable to accept the impunity with which ecclesiastical authority has unjustly treated me and others but increasingly I am dissatisfied with several other aspects of Roman Catholicism .

One of these is what we call liturgy or worship.

Roman Catholic liturgies seem to have become frozen in their own predictable rubrics and vacuous wordiness. They are not life-giving. The orthodox liturgies I have experienced are very ancient but most prayerful and in the EOC leave more room for charismatic prayer.

Roman Catholics no longer have any liturgical chants, no proper icons to venerate, no silences; only spiritual songs, spoken texts and overly ‘realistic’ images and statues which may seem beautiful, but lack depth.

They are mere images by comparison to the striking icons in the Orthodox church which are spiritual and deep, real windows to heaven.

Also the kerygma, the essential saving truth of the gospels, which changes lives is hardly preached by catholic priests. Instead we tend preach legalistic moralism and abstract sermons not related to life, while correctness of ritual take pride of place.

The fruit of this is all too often the dark secrets and abuses within and a too easy accommodation with evil, sin and hypocrisy, especially in the hierarchy. Many see this lack of integrity and authenticity and leave.

While Roman Catholic churches are still full due to infant baptism, this is somewhat illusory. According to the most recent figures from the National census Board of Uganda 765,000 Christians have left the Catholic church in Uganda in the last ten years.

In another ten or twenty years what will it be like? Surely things must change. The church must change or die. It died in North Africa which was Catholic in the first four hundred years AD. It is dying in Europe and America.

As charismatics we were often accused of distorting Catholic worship and theology with healing prayers and other forms of spontaneity, and yet many catholics experienced our Masses as life-changing encounters with the Divine rather than as a lifeless rituals.

The priests today are in undignified haste to supply more and more Masses. They are under pressure to multiply Masses for different groups who want ”their Mass”.

Good liturgy requires time for prayer and preparation but often there is no time. Today liturgy in the RC Church has become quantified and even commodified. Mass and even some other sacraments appears as commodities offered for those who can finance a priest.

The numerous masses being said for graduations, lumbes, for multiplying outstations, for opening buildings and businesses, houses, you name it, are not necessarily a sign of increasing or deepening spirituality, in my view, but of religiosity, and shrewd income generation by impecunious priests.

There is no such thing as a perfect church of course. Perfection is found in heaven. The church is both human and Divine and I am sure that each one of us, including me have contributed to the good and not so good within the church.

Realistically however and on a personal note there are times when no matter how much you love your ‘home’ it is impossible for you to continue to stay there. So you leave with a heavy heart continuing to love home but from a distance.

Your heart is no longer at ease.

An Open Letter to Creflo Dollar: Why Creflo Dollar is not Welcome in Scotland come June 2016

 270ED01A00000578-0-image-a-5_1427485353958

An Open Letter to Creflo Dollar

(an update – the Scotsman carried this story on the 4th of May -You can read it HERE  )

Dear Creflo,

Forgive me for calling you by your first name but since we both profess to be Christian brothers I think it is appropriate. We have other things in common – we were both born in 1962 and we are both pastors in the Christian church. But there I guess the similarities end. You have a church of some 30,000 members, I have one with 125. You have two Rolls Royce’s and a private jet; I have a leased car and pushbike! To you that might sound like jealousy, to me it just indicates the different worlds we live in and the different theologies we have. You of course are a world famous tele-evangelist, with your own ministry and TV show; I am an unknown Scottish Presbyterian minister. So why am I writing you? Why should you listen to me?

Because you are coming to my country in a few weeks and I have been challenged by the church that is inviting you after I gave a somewhat critical response to a question I was asked from a Scottish newspaper about your forthcoming visit. I then wrote this blog – Why Creflo Dollar is not Welcome in Scotland   There was as you might expect quite a response. I understand that it even made it into your local Atlanta paper, where one of your staff indicated that it was just a little local difficulty, with the implication being that this was some kind of turf war where we were a bit jealous about your coming to another church.

I met with the leaders of that church who invoked Matthew 18 and asked why I had not consulted you first, before writing in public. I told them that I did not think you would even read my letter, never mind respond, but they did not agree and suggested that I was still in the wrong not to do so. I don’t agree with their application of Matthew 18 (see Don Carson on the misapplication of Matthew 18) but nonetheless I want to respect their desire and write to you.

Firstly I want to apologise if I was wrong in my assumption about your willingness to listen and also if I have misunderstood your teaching and theology.
Secondly I want to ask you about that theology. I have listened to several of your sermons and it seems clear to me that you specifically teach what is understood as the prosperity gospel, of the ‘name it and claim it variety’. I listened to your latest series on ‘taking authority’ and it seemed to me that you believe Christians have only to ‘take authority’ and claim wealth and health. Could you let me know if my understanding is correct? Did you ask your congregation to finance a $65 million jet for your ministry?

Thirdly, if you do teach this Prosperity Gospel, I would issue a plea to you as a Scottish pastor, who is seeking to communicate the Good News in a society which is increasingly ignorant of Christ, or hostile to him. Please don’t come. Your visit will only cause harm – to the Church, to the culture and to those of us who have to stay and work here. The name of God will be ‘blasphemed amongst the Gentiles because of you’. (Romans 2:24).
Fourthly, if you do come then I would simply ask that you be prepared to discuss/dialogue with myself in public about what the Lord really says and wants. You know how when Peter came to Antioch Paul publicly rebuked him to his face (Galatians 2:11)?  Lets meet and discuss in public.    If I am wrong you can show the church and the world and I will be corrected and taught the way of God more perfectly. If you are wrong then the same applies to you. What is there for either of us to lose? The God who answers by fire, let him be God.
I would also like to invite you on your way to Aberdeen to pop in for a wee cup of tea and we could have that same discussion in our own small studios here in Dundee at the Solas Centre for Public Christianity.
If you have a heart for the cause of the Gospel here in Scotland, or for the name and honour of Jesus Christ, then I would urge you to listen to my plea. If you refuse to do so then I feel bound by my love for Christ and his gospel to do everything that I possibly can to resist the cancerous poison of a false theology which assaults the poor, the weak and the sick; and which makes a mockery of the cross of Christ. I have no interest in church politics, ‘turf wars’ or any other such examples of the worldly spirit that so often invades the churches. I seek only the glory of Christ and the good of his church.

You are clearly a man with considerable communication gifts – imagine the good that could be done if you used them to preach the Gospel (and yes I am suggesting that if you add to the gospel the whole prosperity doctrine it is not the Good News to the poor that you are preaching)? I look forward to hearing from you ASAP.

Yours in Christ

Why Creflo Dollar is not Welcome in Scotland

The National carried the following report in its Saturday edition.   There have been some Christians who are unhappy with my comments (whats new?!).  But their criticisms at first sight appear reasonable and therefore I would like to do them the courtesy of answering:
  1. Why speak so strongly against a Christian brother in the secular press?   Indeed.  It is appalling that in this day and age we have to warn in the public press about a false teacher in the church.  It is depressing and heart breaking that such exists. But when it does we have to warn.  The prosperity gospel is not the good news.   The last thing that the Church in Scotland needs is a visit from an American multi-millionaire telly-evangelist who drives a Rolls, has a mansion in Atlanta, a Penthouse in New York and a salary of millions.   The trouble is that so many Christian leaders in Scotland agree with what I said but don’t think they should say it.  I note here a trend amongst good evangelicals who are concerned (rightly) that they might come across as harsh, unloving or disrespectful, to be silent – at least in public.   My problem is that this would condemn Elijah, Jesus and Paul.  Paul wrote a public letter wishing that false teachers on the subject of circumcision would go all the way and castrate themselves – that was hardly circumspect!

2) Isn’t this an attack on Destiny Church who are doing a great work?  – In one sense yes.  They should not be inviting a false teacher to come and preach in their churches – if so they are associated with that false teaching.  Of course God can use Creflo Dollar – he can use a donkey and he can use a pagan king.  But we are not to allow God’s sovereignty to justify human sin/stupidity and our own inaction. I would plead with Destiny to uninvite Creflo Dollar.

3) Don’t you believe in Free Speech?  Of course I believe in free speech.  I am using it!  I am not arguing for Creflo Dollar to be banned or to have his passport taken away.  I am using my free speech to point out his false teaching and to ask churches not to invite and people not to support him.

4) Don’t you believe in God’s blessing?  When I got this one I wanted to pull out the last remaining bits of my hair!   Of course I believe in God’s blessing.  I just don’t make a direct equation between the richer you are, the more it shows how you are blessed.  Blessed are the poor.   It is not a sin to be a millionaire.  It is a sin to teach that the gospel is a way to make yourself a millionaire and it is a sin for a pastor to take the tithes of the poor and turn them into a private jet for himself.
This is the article below. (Incidentally it was the National’s most popular article online over the weekend).  Note how the Humanist Society can’t resist the temptation to get a wee dig in about their Bad News….

You’re not welcome, Free Church tells American pastor Creflo Dollar

The National 9 Apr 2016

CONTROVERSIAL American pastor Creflo Dollar, who last year asked his followers to stump up $65 million for a new private jet, has been told he is not welcome in Glasgow, by the Free Church of Scotland.

The televangelist is set to appear at the SECC in June in a meeting organised by the Destiny Evangelical church.

Dollar is a proponent of the Prosperity Gospel that says being rich is God’s will and that a regular donation to the church can help a believer become more wealthy.

But yesterday, the Rev David Robertson, Moderator of the Free Church of Scotland said Dollar’s work was blasphemous and embarrassing, and told him to go elsewhere.

Robertson said: “Creflo Dollar coming here is appalling. He’s a multimillionaire, American, televangelist and we really do not need him here. The church doesn’t need him. It’s embarrassing to have somebody like that come. His prosperity gospel is blasphemous. It’s not what people in Scotland need to hear.
“He’s not welcome. Not with that message. It’s a horrendous message that he brings. It’s not the message of the gospel at all. He can keep his jet and use it to fly elsewhere.”
Dollar is senior pastor at his own World Changers Church International, and has an estimated net worth of $27 million. The New York Times reported that he has mansion in Atlanta, a penthouse in New York, several cars, including a Rolls Royce.
When he was asked about the Rolls Royce is a rare media interview he replied: “It was a gift that my local church gave to me, you don’t turn down a gift that somebody gives to you”.
Last year Dollar appealed to his parishioners to each donate $300 towards the cost of a new G650 Gulfstream private jet, insisting it was necessary.
Chief executive of Humanist Society Scotland Gordon MacRae said: “Scotland is proudly a place where people are able to express their views, no matter how ridiculous people find then.
“This news is coming in the same week as the Scottish Social Attitudes Survey confirmed that a majority of people in Scotland are not religious.
“We trust that Destiny Church would not expose any of their vulnerable members to be to exploited by his voracious appetite for money. We don’t want Scotland to become the latest layover stop for wealthy televangelists seeking to rip people off.”
